Wang’s work has been seen in collections including: Musée d'Art Contemporain de Montréal, Musée des Beaux-Arts de Montréal, Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec, National Gallery of Canada, Hydro Quebec, National Bank of Canada, Royal Bank of Canada, TD Bank, Caisse Desjardins, Caisse de
dépôt et placement, Musée de l’Elysée, Lausanne, Switzerland, Collection Prêts d’œuvre – MNBAQ, BMO Financial Group, City of Montreal and Canada Council Art Bank.
Wang’s practice is dedicated to a process of approaching individual perceptions of reality through considering the construction of language, meaning, identity, memory and emotion while examining the exercise of art making. This process attempts to define instead of conclude, by proposing multiple perspectives rather than one fixed strategy to expand on specific experiences. Ultimately, multiple attempts at defining bring forth seemingly insignificant fragments and a focus on banality that embodies and reflects on the intricacy of personal experience.
Wang mostly uses photography, video, objects or texts, and at times integrates performance and sound into the work.
Chih-Chien Wang is currently an artist in residence at the Künstlerhaus Bethanien for the year of 2016 supported by Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec.
