Dianne Smith is a painter living in Australia. Her work explores ephemeral connections with urban spaces and nature through pattern, colour and light. Her observations of micro surfaces expose unexpected details that shift and change with weather and time. She is intrigued by the constant flux of patterns on still water and more recently light shining through found glass fragments of graffiti. Patterns emerge and dissolve revealing intricate marks and traces and random combinations of tones, textures and shapes. Reinterpreting and reinvigorating these disparate and transient marks allows her the flexibility to work abstractly.
