My current drawings are about the ways individuals and groups of people occupy space. Do we feel comfortable where we are? Are we close to, or distant from, our surroundings and each other? I trace outlines from photocopied photographs onto paper and linen using carbon paper. These outlines form the basis for spare, flat drawings in which information is reduced as much as possible, leaving much of the drawing blank, unoccupied. The viewer is then free to insert their own ideas and imagination into the areas that are missing. In this way, the work is created as much by the viewer’s experience as by my own.
