My artwork likes to clash and oppose with the perception of beauty. To me, imperfections are more compelling and has the power to transform into something magnificent behind ones eyes. I’ve always been focused on garments ever since I discovered avant-garde designers who convert fabrics into pieces of artwork on human bodies. Clothing is a great way to make a statement and the story you want to tell. My work consists of deconstructing already made pieces and mixing them with various materials, making “fashion” into “un-fashion.”
Inspirations come from my current present environment, culture, relationship with people, and what I am passionate about. Gathering information and connecting with other influences are essential to my process. I want the viewers reconsider the word “ugly” and even disregard it in their minds and that everything has beauty in it.
