Marissa Rae Niederhauser (USA) makes body based work in dance, film, performance and installation. With special interest in self-invented rituals, percussive sounds and the psychological and neurological systems’ influence on the performative body her work is taut, atmospheric and mystical, with an underlining sexuality that is not necessarily titillating or easily appropriated. While only rarely overtly political, her work is always created through the lens of feminist analysis. She is greatly influenced by the environments that she travels to and lives in and her work reflects a sense of permanent displacement.
