Kitty Chrystal is a non-binary Melbourne based artist whose work focuses on figurative drawing, rendered in a combination of ink and digital media. Their work explores themes of queerness, body image, dysphoria and identity. Depicting characters at odds with their surroundings, Kitty pushes to the forefront uncomfortable notions of public safety and gender performance, which contrast with their packaging in a palate of uplifting warm hues — homage to the façade we present as we persevere, and that presented by our environment.
