I am an aspiring author and am presently writing an illustrated series of fantasy/fairytale novels for young adults set in pre-world war 2 Europe (indirectly it is Germany) and a magical place called Outlandia. The protagonist is Annaliese Fantoccino, an 11 year old girl who suddenly finds herself on a quest with her companion Otto to save her father, a master puppeteer and storyteller. But in doing so, she learns her destiny is entwined with the land of her father’s stories. Incorporating elements of Norse and Germanic myths, my series aims to explore prejudice and fear of difference, exclusion and acceptance, individuality and conformity, personal growth, the value of imagination and indeed the underestimated power of children’s insights.
