As an emerging contemporary dance artist I am fascinated with further exploring my understanding that dance is art. I want to push the boundaries of how dance can be defined and use my skills as a dancer as a means of communicating an emotion, but without having to simply perform dance choreography. I believe that the beauty of contemporary dance is that it never stops revealing itself to you in new and exciting ways and teaching you about yourself and what you can do. I want to be inspired by emotions, people and places to create different unique movement. My key question during the residency is to explore; are the lines created by the body, which are ‘expressing a meaning’, affected by place, time and people?
