Anita Kroo

Anita Kroo is a Hungarian artist based in Budapest and New York City. She received her first MFA at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in 2011, and her second MFA at Pratt Institute, New York City in 2017. Bordering on abstraction and figuration, her artwork consists of books, paintings and prints. She focuses on themes of the human body, sexual desire, the conscious and the unconscious mind. Through painting and drawing she creates explosive imagery of rendered and dismembered body parts. By visualizing a conflicted and fractured identity, Kroo expresses the controversies between how we experience our body and sexuality, and what are the socially legitimized parameters of that experience.
